“You can have a fulfilling career and a joyful life — but not by doing it all. Success requires clarity, ruthless focus, and aligned action.” - Blanca

About Me
My name is Blanca Guzmán Rodríguez. I spent 23 years learning what actually separates leaders who rise from those who plateau — and it's not what most people think.
With over 15 years of executive experience in strategic planning, team leadership, and operational excellence, I’ve helped top Fortune 500 companies like Nielsen, Gracenote, Tribune Media, and Reader’s Digest Association achieve transformative results. I’ve led diverse, global teams of up to 2,000 employees across the US, Canada, Europe, Latin America, India and other parts of Asia, with a focus on driving collaboration, efficiency, and organizational development to consistently deliver impactful outcomes.
The last couple of years have been terrifying, enlightening, and empowering—all at once.

After 23 years of nonstop, upward momentum climbing the corporate ladder, I took a long-overdue career break. I welcomed the pause with open arms, but I could never have predicted what came next: three unexpected eye surgeries that challenged me not only physically, but mentally and emotionally.
That period of deep vulnerability forced me to slow down, look inward, and confront the patterns, beliefs, and definitions of success I had carried for decades.
What emerged was clarity. I began to see—quite literally and figuratively—how my approach to leadership had always been rooted in values that many professionals crave but aren’t taught: clarity, compassion, courage, and systems that support sustainable success. Those beliefs crystallized into a framework I now call Y.E.S! to Leadership Excellence—a reflection of how I’ve led, grown, and helped others do the same for over two decades.

“Leadership gets easier when you stop trying to do everything— and start aligning who you are, where you are, and how you work.” - Blanca
(That’s the power of Y.E.S.: YOU, ENVIRONMENT, SYSTEMS.)
What I've Learned
Throughout my career in corporate America and my role as a mother, I’ve seen a troubling reality: society—through families, educational systems, and employers—isn’t equipping individuals with the key developmental skills they need to truly thrive.
Most career development misses the point entirely — it's generic, disconnected from real corporate life, and ignores the unwritten rules that actually determine who rises.
I’ve been there too. Navigating this landscape largely on my own, I learned through trial and error what it takes to not just survive but thrive in corporate environments. And while the path is rarely easy, I’ve discovered that success doesn’t have to feel so complicated—not when you have the right tools, strategies, and mindset.
My Beliefs
After two decades in the corporate trenches, I've come to believe four things determine who truly rises — and none of them are about working harder:
- Self-awareness — knowing how you're perceived, what you project, and where your blind spots are.
- Strategic networking — building relationships before you need them, not after.
- Storytelling — making your work and your value visible to the people who matter.
- Influence — moving people and decisions without relying on authority.
These aren't soft skills. They're the actual game.
